Absolute Poker Software Versions

Absolute Poker offers both downloadable and Instant Play versions of their software. The downloadable version is fully compatible with both the Windows and Macintosh operating system. The Instant Play version is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux computers, so long as you have an up-to-date web browser and Java runtime environment.

There are a few key differences between the Instant Play and downloadable versions. Currently, the Instant Play version does not include:

Absolute Poker is constantly working to add new features to both their downloadable and Instant Play versions. You can be certain that the differences between the various versions of Absolute Poker will eventually be minimized or removed entirely. As it stands, Absolute Poker already offers a more robust Instant Play experience than most other online poker sites, and the downloadable Mac compatibility is an excellent added bonus.

Absolute Poker Lobby

When you log into the Absolute Poker lobby, you'll see a complete, easily navigable interface that will let you find exactly the right poker cash game or tournament that you're looking for. Across the upper part of the screen, you'll see a menu offering the game type choices:

Below this bar, the Absolute Poker software lobby allows you to pick from Fixed Limit, No Limit/Pot Limit, and Fun.

The bulk of the Absolute Poker lobby is dominated by the listing of games within the game type and limit setting that you choose. You can sort these game according to Table Name, Stakes, Type (real money or play money), Players, Wait, Average Pot, Flop Percentage, and Hands per Hour. Clicking on a game will allow you to see more information about the table including the user names of each player involved, their current chip count, and their place of residence. From here, you can click Join Table, or view the Waiting List if the table is currently full.

At the bottom of the Lobby window, you'll find buttons labeled Cashier, Create Private Tourney, and How to Play. Clicking on Cashier will give you information regarding your real money online poker account, and it will allow you to make withdrawals and deposits. The Create Private Tourney button will be accessible once your FAME status (basically a VIP rewards club that requires you to play lots of hands of real money poker) reaches a certain level. This button allows you to make a private tournament and invite up to eight of your friends. The How To Play button will provide information on the various game types at Absolute Poker.

Finally, a news bar appears at the bottom of the Absolute Poker lobby. This bar will inform you of any current promotions at Absolute Poker, such as reload bonuses.

Absolute Poker Software Quality

The software used by Absolute Poker is very high in quality. This is true of both the lobby view and the table view. Everything is very clear and intuitive and the fonts can be easily read even on a smaller monitor. Players can choose from either a ¾ view or a birds eye, top-down view of the table. The Absolute Poker software includes a convenient hand replayer that lets you see exactly how a hand played out immediately after it has finished. If you'd like, you can even choose to sit out of the next hand to take some time and use the hand replayer. Sitting out is also useful if you're trying to catch up while multi-tabling.

So long as your computer meets the minimum system requirements, you'll find that the Absolute Poker software runs very smoothly and efficiently. The responsiveness of the software is also highly dependent on your Internet connection, and a broadband connection is recommended.
