Compatibility

Primarily, Party Poker offers its downloadable software as compatible with PCs running most Windows operating systems, such as Windows 98, ME, 2000, XP and Vista. Earlier versions of Windows are not supported by the Party Poker software client. To use Party Poker with one of those versions, Windows needs to be updated to XP first. The Party Poker software should then run without issue.

Party Poker offers a recently developed Mac-client downloadable software, but so far Party Poker still offers Mac users only the instant play software until the platform under development can become more stable to support Mac users' poker games. Mac users running Boot Camp, Parallels or a Virtual PC program are able to access the downloadable version through the Virtual PC platform.

Linux and Ubuntu users are also currently able to use the instant play version of Party Poker's games only as the downloadable software is not compatible with these operating systems. Users on Linux/Ubuntu forums recommend using the program Wine to create a virtual PC option. Using Wine allows players to run almost any Windows programs, including downloading an playing the full version of Party Poker.
