Poker.com Content

Poker.com's strength is its abundance of varied content.  While it does not excel in any one area, it has good basic poker strategy, rules and tutorials.  Poker.com obviously strives to be a one-stop shop for poker information, and in that mission, it succeeds.  The www.poker.com website could be updated more often though.  An example is at the time of this writing (Nov. 4, 2009), they have a list of the past five WSOP winners, and the latest year listed is 2007, while the winner of the 2008 World Series of Poker was crowned almost one year ago.

For a beginning poker player, or one that that is new to online poker and gambling in general, poker.com is a solid resource.

Poker.com History

Poker.com was originally registered in December 1998, making it the oldest poker-related domain name on the internet, as well as one of the most valuable domain names on the entire internet.  In 2001, just before the online poker boom, Poker.com was sold for $100,000.    Six years later in 2007, Poker.com was sold for a whopping $27 million, making it the most expensive domain name sale in history, beating porn.com's selling price of $9.5 million.

Until the domain sale in 2007, Poker.com operated as an online poker operator.  Shortly after the domain name was sold, all Poker.com players were transferred to PDCPoker.com and Poker.com became a poker information portal.  Ranking #1 with an authority site listing in Google, Poker.com can do anything it wants and rank #1 for the most profitable search term on the planet.
