Pokerstars Download - Downloading the Software Package
Pokerstars offers free, downloadable software as a poker client for players to access full color graphics, every possible variety of tournament and cash game, and daily promotions of all kinds. Players only need to download the software once and then establish a player account for regular use on their own computer. The ever-improving software keeps up with the developments that players and technicians recommend to Pokerstars for updates, ensuring players have the richest gaming experience at the poker room.
Computer Compatibility
The Pokerstars downloads come in two versions: PC and Mac. The PC compatible version is the original version. It is effective with Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT 4 , Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista. Pokerstars recently developed a Mac-native version for its Mac OS players. This version is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4.10 and later. Unfortunately, Linux, Ubuntu and other operating system users don't have their own compatible software yet. These users need to run virtual PC programs like Wine 1.0 or use the instant play, no-download versions.
No-download instant play Pokerstars' games are also available for players to use anywhere. This option allows players to play games via their web browsers. This creates another play option for players running currently non-compatible operating systems, as well as for players who prefer to limit the extra software stored on their computer. As a note, some of the tournaments and customizable features at Pokerstars are not available to players using the instant play version.
