PokerStars has become the world's largest online Poker room because they truly love their players and treat all of their players like they are 'Poker Stars'. The way PokerStars rewards loyal players is with their Pokerstars VIP Club. When you first start playing at PokerStars you will not have any FPPs or VPPs but once you start playing, you will start to earn them, that simple. All you have to do to start earning points is to start playing poker. For every dollar that you wager, you will earn a certain amount of points. There is no limit to how many points you can earn. You earn VPPs which earn you FPPs which can be used to buy in to tournaments at PokerStars or to buy some great PokerStars merchandise from the PokerStars VIP Store.

How You Earn VPPs

You earn VPPs whenever you are playing for real money at PokerStars. There are a couple different ways to earn VPPs by playing. When you play tournaments at PokerStars, you will earn VPPs depending on the buy in of the tournament. The amount of VPPs you earn from the tournament depends on how much the fee is.

For example, a $20 tournament will probably have a $2.00 fee. For every dollar that you pay in tournament fees you will receive 5 VPPs, so for a $2 fee you would get 10 VPPs.

Only cash tournaments that charge a tournament fee are valid for you to earn VPPs - this means that play money and even free roll cash tournaments do not count towards your VPPs. At cash ring table games, the VPP is determined by the rake at the table. For each ring game hand you have the possibility of earning up to 3 VPPs per hand. Depending on the stakes, if they are below $1/2 stakes you will get 1 VPP when the rake reaches $0.40.

if you are playing at higher stakes you will get your first VPP when the rake reaches $1 (you must be playing in the hand to get VPPs). You can earn your second VPP when the rake reaches $2 at 6 player tables(not 10 or 9 player tables that have only 6 players, but tables that only have 6 seats), at any other kind of table the second VPP is earned when the rake reached $3. If the rake reached $5 at any table you will get a third VPP.

VPP's - How They Work

For every time your VIP level raises, so do the amount of FPPs you get per VPPs. The higher in ranks that you raise, the more points you will earn. Below is a chart to show the differences in points for each level such as how many points you must achieve to reach each level and how many bonus points you will get for each level as all levels silver and up get multiplied VPP points that get higher as the player VIP level gets higher.

VPP Accumulation Rates

Bronze Star - 0 VPPs Required 0 Multiplier (2 VPPs = 2 FPPs)

Silver Star - 1,200 VPPs Required 50% Multiplier (2 VPPs = 3 FPPs)

Gold Star - 3,000 VPPs Required 100% Multiplier (2 VPPs = 4 FPPs)

Platinum Star - 7,500 VPPs Required 150% Multiplier (2 VPPs = 5 FPPs)

Supernova - 100,000 VPPs Required 250% Multiplier (2 VPPs = 7 FPPs)

Supernova Elite - 1,000,000 VPPs Required 500% Multiplier (2 VPPs = 10 FPPs)

VPPs - VIP Player Points

VIP Player Points (VPPs) can not be used to buy into tournaments or to get cool PokerStars gear, instead the purpose of VPPs are to keep track of your VIP status. All players start with a bronze star and as you earn more FPPs your VPPs will go up. After the bronze star is naturally the silver star when you reach 1,200 VPPs. Once you have reached 3,000 VPPs you will be advanced to the gold star and finally once you have reached 7,500 VPPs you will finally be a platinum star VIP player.

The bronze, silver, gold and platinum stars are all considered monthly star levels. The top 2 VIP levels are Supernova which requires 100,000 VPPs and the Supernova Elite which requires you to earn 1,000,000 VIP player points. As you move up in levels, you will start to earn more FPPs(which can be used for buy ins and merchandise) for each VPP that you earn.

FPPs - Frequent Player Points Store

To show their players how much they care about them, PokerStars gives it's players frequent player points for every dollar that they wager. There are tons of things that you can use your FPPs for. You can use them to buy into special FPPs only tournaments, or you can use them to buy cool PokerStars gear so that you can look like the pros like Chris Moneymaker.

You may also be able to purchase cool electronics like iPods and more from the PokerStars VIP Store. As your status gets higher and higher and your points get more and more, you will be able to buy bigger and more expensive and extravagant prizes. The cheapest prizes are 400 FPPs and the most expensive prizes are 75,000 FPPs but you have to be a Supernova Elite to be able to purchase that prize with your FPPs.
